Purpose: This study is to establish the computerized data management system of
cancer patients visited at Korea Cancer Center Hospital consistently and systematically,
and provide the frame for cancer researches in the future.
Subjects and Methods: The contents of this study are to register cancer patients
visiting this hospital from 1963 by using the data management system and to follow
up the registered patients with cancer. The programe was developed in a programming
mode of cobol and runs on IBM-PC- compatible computers connected with main
computer, Sequoia 400 system. We are to establish the input and output file for cancer
registration, the management file of registered patients with cancer, and the data
analysis system.
Results: We established registration files-master file, surgery file, radiotherapy file,
chemotherary file and follow-up file - on all sites of cancer patients, and management
files for registered patients. We also provided the follow-up system and analysed the
registered data on clinical characteristics and surval rates.
Conclusion: We established the computerized data management system for cancer
patients consistently and systematically and provided the follow-up system for them.
